Description
Ethylene oxide, a known carcinogenic gas, filled the air around homes and schools and thousands of adults and children where unknowingly breathing it. Our yearlong investigative series “Sterigenics”, flushed out decades old government records warning the medical supply sterilization company of the public health danger and we revealed secret warehouses never reported to the EPA. Our reporting led to a call for action on the United States Senate floor and for a full investigation into findings uncovered by Chicago’s WBBM-TV. In the end, our reporting led to a new law called “The Matt Haller Act”.
