Description

New York Newsday found that a large protion of the waste plastic collected by the City of New York is exported overseas, at the expense of mom-and-pop plastic recylcers in the US. The municipal recycling facilities are under no contractual obligation to ensure that all plastic is recycled. As a result, the state attorney general began an investigation into the validity of recycling claims made by plastic manufacturers, Jan. 2, 1994.
