The Times-Picayune takes an in-depth look at St. Jude Medical Center; finds that the hospital was built after the devloper recieved approval from the governor. The hospital spent millions of dollars building sophisticated specialty wings, buying physician practices and paying officers and executives without taking into account changes in the market-such as the move towards HMOs.
