Description

The Record (Hackensack, N.J.) investigates how New Jersey disciplines doctors. The series finds many questionable doctors escape scrutiny because New Jersey's regulatory system waits before damage is done before it reviews a doctor's performance. Furthermore, patients can do little to avoid bad doctors for the information on them is kept from the public. After the stories ran, N.J. lawmakers vowed to reform the system in the next legislative session, 1994.
