Description

Eastsideweek looks into a puzzling question surrounding the medical treatment of a football celebrity badly injured in a car accident: Why wasn't he brought to the region's top-notch trauma center? The investigation revealed that the hospital that treated the celebrity instead was often directing medics to bring trauma patients its own way, despite state guidelines to the contrary. It appeared to be doing so in order to promote its own trauma facility, even though it lacked crucial equipment. (Feb. 22, 1995)
