Description

Set in a neighborhood only four miles from the center of Chicago, these investigative profiles of the Manic Latin Disciples disclosed the inner workings of the city's fourth largest street gang. The stories documented how the gang's growing political influence affected local elections and demonstrated the Disciples' readiness to use violence to protect its turf. (July 28 and August 29, 1996)
