Description

Children's protective services workers are required to make decisions affecting the destinies of children and parents without having sufficient resources or time to assess situations adequately. The decision to terminate the legal relationships between a parent and a child has been likened to issuing a death sentence. But the failure to terminate may leave a child in an abusive situation to be injured or even killed. The high caseloads and workload of children's social workers make it physically implossible for them to do their jobs.
