Description

While investigating the Kansas Department of Corrections, an Eagle reporter found a case of parolee forgotten about in the system. " Wesley Purkey was convicted of four sets of crimes while on parole when the state of Kansas paroled him again in 1997. He tested positive for alcohol and admitted using drugs during his most recent parole, and was left unsupervised for three months in 1998 while living in the Wichita area." In addition, Purkey's employer was never aware of his criminal background. Internal state documents along with interviews with Purkey, provided the information for this story.
