Description

"The drug resistance program taught by police officers to fifth graders is highly popular in Michigan in spite of its $2 million price tag in Metro Detroit alone, and a growing body of evidence that suggested the program was ineffective. The Detroit News looked at more than 10 years of survey results from thousands of high-schoolers in Metro Detroit, -- both kids who had been through the program and those who had not -- and found the program " was ineffective. The story was kicked off by "curiosity of the effectiveness of the DARE program, as well as complaints from parents who considered the program draconian and included too many details about drug use to young children.
