On the day of Brendan's disappearance his father fled from police, wrecking his car and fighting with officers. He was arrested for second degree felony assault on an officer, and held on a $50,000 bond. He did not post bond. At his sentencing for willful wreckless driving and obstructing a police officer, he announced he killed Brendan because the boy was the Anti-Christ.
