Description

Since 2017, farmers in the Midwest have been hit particularly hard by the ongoing U.S-China trade war. As the impact has continued, we wanted to look beyond government announcements of trade relief to see who/what has truly benefited. Other news organizations has done some reporting had been done around Chinese-owned Smithfield winning contracts to deliver pork through the USDA's commodity purchase aspect of the Market Facilitation Program, but little analysis had been done of the rest of the program.
