Description

After three children died at unlicensed, unregulated day care operations in summer 2018, Knox News reporter Brittany Crocker began a data-driven investigation which found that amid a surge in demand for child care in Knox County, Tennessee, websites allowing unlicensed caregivers to advertise were not vetting their listings and the state was not tracking them. Such oversight allowed unlicensed caregivers to mislead parents on their credentials, experience and compliance with the law.
