Description

In our investigation, we wanted to fully understand the impact of Title IX sanctions at UNL and if UNL failed to implement sanctions properly. Several students had complained about Title IX investigations and believed UNL was in the wrong because those accused of sexual assault were usually never punished. Through our stories, we reveal that UNL is not the only university that does not implement sanctions on most of the cases it sees. At UNL, administration is doing what they can to follow the law and be better, but the Title IX coordinator often struggles to find enough evidence to support the complainant’s claim. Despite UNL’s efforts, many believe there is a problem with the system. Three survivors came forward to share their negative experiences at UNL’s Title IX office, and people are attempting to make a difference on campus and statewide.
