Subscribe to NICAR-Learn, our gallery of on-demand training videos

In November, we announced the creation of NICAR-Learn, a new hub for on-demand training videos. We launched the site with a handful of free videos, and now we’re excited to let you know that the full site is up and running.

Here’s how it works: For a small fee ($25/year for IRE members; $40/year for non-members), you’ll be able to access our growing library of short training videos recorded by data journalists and IRE trainers. Pick and choose the programs or skills you want to learn and watch them whenever you have time. Most videos are under 10 minutes. Watch one to address a problem you’ve encountered in your work, or watch an entire collection of videos on a particular topic to familiarize yourself with a new tool.

So far we’ve filmed videos addressing core data skills: spreadsheets, database managers and the command line. We’ll be adding one new video each week leading up to the 2016 CAR Conference in Denver. And there’s more planned after that. 

We hope you’ll find NICAR-Learn a helpful new addition to our existing suite of resources. And if you have any ideas for how we can make it better, we’d love to hear from you.
